Where the Land Meets the Sea
The sheen of the hand carved Huon Pine, is a constant delight to me. The way it glimmers in the light, the shadows cast by the carved lines that follow the grain of the wood. Simple in its shape and design because the hero is that sheen. Dripping from the pendant, pieces of New Zealand Paua (Abalone) are strung from hand twined waxed linen threads in blues and greens - the colours of the sea. The papa shell also catches the light, hints of blues, green, pink and purple. Nature truly is a wonder….
