I Still Call NZ Home
I’ve lived in Australia for almost 37 Years….. but Aotearoa, New Zealand will always be home for me.
It’s not just because my parents are still here, living out their twilight years with grace and humour - Dad’s wit is quite something for a 95 year old! It’s something else. Something again intangible yet palpable. I don’t doubt we all feel it. That ache you get in your bones for home.
The older I get, the louder the calling to spend time on tangata whenua, home turf. At the beginning of this year I decided that 2023 would be THE year. The year of doing many things I have threatened to do that never eventuated. A new website (ta da!), make more and interesting things - visit my shop for evidence of I how I went there - complete two levels of Ren Xue teacher training (more about this later) and to put my feet on the ground of the shaky isles for longer than a couple of weeks to visit family.
It feels good to have accomplished so much this year and it’s not over yet. I have a bit more than two months here in New Zealand, travelling, visiting, making, connecting, feeling into who I am on this land…my bones rejoice.…
I am still feeling my way around the website actually. So I shall apologise in advance for any typos, template/system headings or latin content, and whatever other weird goings on that may occur. I love to learn. And this is a steep curve. But hey. First musing written. Yay me.
